BG John Barnes, 173rd Abn Bde CG, presents the Silver Star to LT Paul Erlich, Company A, 1/50(M), for the successful night ambush of an NVA company at the Dak Po on QL 19 west of LZ Schueller.

SGT James Stolinski of Omaha, Nebraska
SGT Stolinski's track was A Company's point on patrol at grid ZT033720 when it hit a large mine at 4:29 p.m. on March 26, 1968 . He, PFC Richard Belinge and SP4 Charles Moomey were killed and six WIA evacuated to Qui Nhon. At 6:33 p.m., the APC was blown in place by EOD.

Vietnam Firefight-1st Bn, 50th Inf
Men of Alpha Company, 1st Bn (Mech), 50th Inf, reel off Highway 19, ten miles west of An Khe, to quell sniper fire from the wood line. The mechanized element pulls road reaction for the 173rd Airborne Brigade along the busy supply route.

Battle Damaged APC
An armored personnel carrier of Alpha Company, 1st Bn (Mech), 50th Infantry shows typical damage resulting from running over a mine while it awaits repair or demolition. Stress fractures in the hull could be deemed unrepairable. Note that all weapons have been removed.
