I remember being on patrol without our tracks and coming to this river. John Graves swam across first with a rope, then we followed one by one. I remember a man from Hawaii we called "Pineapple" attempting to cross with his M60 machine gun and loaded down with ammo. He couldn't keep his footing and went under...saved by the quick reaction of McDaid and Graves who swam out to save him.
