I am posting a copy of an e-mail I received from the grandson of our former 2nd Platoon Leader (A Company), 1969-70.

If you knew our 1LT and would like to correspond with his Grandson, who is serving as an army Lieutenant in Asmar, Afghanistan...contact information is in the copied text below:

Billy C Cornwell, platoon leader in A Co during 1969-1970, passed away
26 January 2012. His obituary can be found at
http://www.monticelloenews.com/cms/publ ... 1689.shtml

I am his grandson and we were very close. I also have quite a few photos
I would be willing to submit under his name if I am allowed and receive
a POC. I have digital copies of them with me in Afghanistan but all the
originals with descriptions written on the back are at home.

I remembered this site as one he used to show me when I was younger. I
would like to know if there is anyone on here that knew him and may
possibly have more photos of him. I saw on a picture under Robert Newton
that talked about the event in which he received a silver star and his
platoon leader was wounded. I believe that PL was my grandfather and
wanted to contact him to see if he had any pictures he would be willing
to share but I could not find an email address for him on this site.
Would there be anyone that could put me in touch with him?

I knew Billy Cornwell. I had contact with Robert Newton in Dec 2011. Attempts to contact him since your post have not succeeded. Will keep trying. I sent you a snailmail this week with more details.

Efforts to re-establish contact with Robert Francis Newton have failed. If any of you lucky guys who are going to the reunion come across anything re Newton, I would be grateful to hear from you.

I too would like to re-establish a connection with Newton. He had previously supplied me with a photo of Jere Rhone (Jerone) Lowe which was a photo from a distance and unintelligible. I have since obtained a good portrait photo and would like to share it with Newton.
