Hello all,

Thought I would post a note to update you on the safety of myself and our association archives in the wake of the severe storms of the past several years at my home in Southwest Florida.

1st of all, I am safe… having chosen to evacuate rather than remain behind to ride out hurricane Milton. Second, our archives are safe and unaffected. I keep 95% of our archives locked in my closed 5 X 8 foot trailer which is kept inside of my garage. My home is concrete block construction with strict hurricane resistant roofing, etc. Of importance is the location of my home. I am not directly on or close to the coast. Water intrusion is not a threat as my home is 6 feet above the street. Drainage is excellent and after experiencing a near direct hit 2 years ago with Category 4 Hurricane Ian… I realized there is no danger of flooding.

I lost power with Ian for nearly 3 weeks, but Milton’s outages are due to all be restored by Sunday, October 13th.

Generally, I post updates as to my personal conditions with respect to Florida’s intense hurricanes on my Facebook page… but realize that many of you are not Facebook users.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you next year at our 2025 reunion. Details should be available by January.

Best Regards,

Jim Sheppard
Association Historian

Great to hear you are safe Jim . I did think of you and our 1 50 men in Fl. Carolyn and I will go to Branson, Mo. in Nov for veteran day . They put it all out for vets with great discounts as they honor our vets. Tim and I are looking forward to the reunion also.
